Pattern - repetition sketching
I focused on the aspect of repetition in project. As I was sketching I explored how by manipulating the size and direction of simple elements it created a rhythm. I saw this as a method to further develop into.
Used my leaf image as a base for creating concepts to follow the rhythm of the veins and cracks that I see.
Refined to theme of curvature.
3. Three models:
I have looked at my sketches and decided on using straight forward shapes to test out the idea of developing curvature
First model I made, I was looking at how simple geometric shapes can be manipulated. Referring back to the cracks of the leaves, I was focusing on creating simple structures to mimic cracks and intersecting shapes. Limiting the curvature to only the spheres at the ends.
In my second model I looked at bending and twisting rods to imitate the curvature of my sketches (kind of like a silhouette).
The last one I saved for the last was the most difficult, combining the tests of the two from above and creating actual arcs to twist, bend and overlap with each other. A development of the two practices combined.
